Department of statistical studies and research.

Aims:

1-conducting various types of statistical research and studies (economical, residential, social, live status, environmental....etc).

2-conducting questionnaires concerning public opinion about different subjects (political, legal, social...etc) with different modern instruments.

3-constructing various bank for all kinds of information.

 Centers departments:

1-technical affairs: supervising all technical affairs concerning entire activities of the center and  

Sampling, data analyzing, preparation of reports and studies.

2-statistic: collecting all field data’s and checking them, preparing data for information technology.

3-information technology: supervising all technical and informational affairs of projects concerning data base programming, data entry, data checking, excluding primary results for statistical projects.

The activities which implemented by this department

 Public opinion polling project
The aim of this project was to construct a bridge between authority and people, through interviewing people about sensitive subjects concerning political and civil life, in consequence forming pressure on decision making sides for refining democracy and civil rights of citizens.

However this department is new, it has an efficient staff held a big project of questionnaire that planed for on data survey, no other cities in Iraq witnessed. In this project (12000) citizen has been interviewed concerning these subjects:

1- Democracy situation in Iraqi Kurdistan.

2- Democracy and civil situation, elementary rights of citizens in new Iraq.

3- The effect of Iraq liberation on authority change especially on life and terrorism.

4- The lawful situation and youth hope specially from social, economical, life status, freedom of travel point of view.

5- The political decision making specially related to law and civil law.

6- Old lawful situation and law itself, and its effect of women and youth.

7- The abuse of power against women and bad treatment.

8-curriculum change of university, institute, preparatory schools after the elimination of Sad dams regime.

9- The effect of free media channels as compared to party media's and effects on society in general and youth specially.

KIE in the 5/10/2004 organized public debates between the authority (representative of pray minister of education–minister of human rights municipality representative and many other governmental representatives...) and different class of intellectuals about the result of the polling.

Voters civic education project

This project contains daily workshops for different classes especially women and youth, on political participations Iraqi elections .also this project contains TV documentary announcement on Iraqi elections and IN principles on democratic elections.

Duration of the project: 1of September to 31 of January

Elections monitoring group

This group is including lawyers, journalists, having the role of monitoring the projects which (KIE) assigns to participate in.

This group is capable of participating local associations’ elections, parliament elections, municipality and other governmental elections.

Members of this group re well experienced in supervising and monitoring elections.

(KIE) had participated effectively in students’ elections in Sleimany University and Institutes, in Dec.2003 and published its report in Medias.  

Awareness campaign on elections, human rights, democracy

 Awareness campaign on elections, human rights, democracy, transparency and accountability through documentary program on TV.  Duration: August –December, granted by NPA.

Elections seminars project

This project an awareness campaign for providing the voters with the information on the International principles for the democratic elections and the Iraqi elections law. And to encourage them to participate in the elections process. This project is started in 23/7/2004 funded by DAI.

Anti-terror society project

Aims: Introducing terrorism and its hazard.

Work mechanism: this project is including two phases, first includes education course for religious statement makers concerning forgiveness and the holiness of life and peaceful common living in Islam, and terrors effective on elections ), second phase publishing posters on the bad and real consequences of terror.

Aims: educating both pole of the family (Man and Woman) with civil and political rights and the importance of woman participation in civil and political life.

Education of youth with election basis campaign:

Aims: to introduce pupils of preparatory and youth in general with the concept of elections and designation and international basis of free and democratic elections.

Guidance and methodology:

The courses were conducted as mixture between lesson and workshop , the participant were provided with booklet which was the curriculum of the courses, which content the important of youth’s participations in elections process and the basis of democratic elections.

Civil education of Youth Project:

Aim: Educating Youth through book and dialogue.

Subjects: in this project a book named (the modern society) is prepared which is including these subjects (Civil society, democracy , terror and it's hazard) the context of this book was a subject of 12 discussion and seminars, it is necessary to say that 5000 copy of this book had been printed and distributed among the youth .
